Ang Bao Rates: How Much to Give at a Singapore Wedding

By the VowToDo team · 27 July 2026 · 6 min read

The unwritten rule of Singapore weddings: your ang bao should roughly cover the cost of your seat. Since venues price very differently, the “market rate” depends on where the couple is hosting you — and whether it’s lunch or dinner.

2026 market-rate ranges

VenueTypical range per person
Luxury hotel dinner≈ S$250 and up
Mid-tier hotel dinner≈ S$170 – S$250
Restaurant banquet≈ S$100 – S$170
Casual venues (clubs, halls, void deck)≈ S$60 – S$100

Lunch banquets generally sit below dinner rates, and weekday weddings below weekend ones. When in doubt, look up what the venue charges per table, divide by ten, and round up.

The etiquette that goes with the number

Not every wedding is a Chinese banquet

Rates drift upward every year with banquet prices — these ranges reflect mid-2026. If the wedding is at a venue you don’t know, a quick search for its current per-table price is the most accurate guide.
