Most couples land in the mid-tier band. Note that headline prices are usually quoted before the 10% service charge and 9% GST — add roughly 20% to whatever the brochure says.
A realistic worked example
A 200-guest dinner is 20 tables. At S$1,500 per table that’s S$30,000 — and about S$36,000 after service charge and GST. That’s before the gown, photography, flowers, or honeymoon.
Minimum tables — the quiet dealbreaker
Ballrooms typically require 15–25 tables minimum. If your guest list is 120 people, a venue with a 20-table minimum means paying for seats you won’t fill. Match the venue’s minimum to your confirmed guest count, not your hopeful one — this is the most expensive mistake in Singapore wedding planning.
How to pay less for the same night
- Go off-peak. Weekday dinners and Sunday lunches commonly run S$100–S$300 less per table than Saturday dinners — S$2,000–S$6,000 saved on a 20-table wedding.
- Negotiate perks, not price. Venues rarely cut the per-table rate, but will often throw in extra barrels of beer, waived corkage, more invitation cards, or a better suite.
- Read the package like a contract. Check what’s included: food tasting, wine per table, corkage terms, day-use room, parking coupons, AV support.
- Watch the deposit schedule. Deposits are typically staged; know what’s refundable before you sign.
Ang baos offset — but don’t cover — the bill
Guests give ang baos roughly pegged to the cost of their seat (see our ang bao guide), so a well-attended banquet claws back a meaningful share of its own cost. But plan as if ang baos cover part of the banquet only — treating them as guaranteed revenue is how budgets blow up.
